Contact the Hoops Chubu Desk

Send fixture tips, corrections, or suggestions for leagues and school programmes worth covering. We read everything that arrives, though we can't always reply quickly. If your message concerns a specific fixture, include the competition name and the date.

Pick whichever suits the message. A plain email is fine for a quick note about a rescheduled match; the form below helps when you have dates and league names to lay out clearly.

Association notices and printed league sheets reach the desk this way.

What to send

The most useful messages are specific. A fixture change with the old and new date. A league detail that's out of date. A school programme or regional competition we haven't covered. If you're suggesting a story, one or two lines explaining why it matters locally is worth more than a long pitch. We're a small desk and we work from concrete leads.

Good leads look like

  • A community fixture moved from Saturday to Sunday, with the venue and the competition named.

  • A regional league whose division structure changed this season, and where the notice was posted.

  • A school basketball training programme or street court competition that readers outside the ward would never hear about.

A short paragraph plus the one detail that can be checked beats a statement of opinion. If you want to write a longer piece on local grassroots basketball yourself, say so and we'll tell you whether it fits our coverage.

How we check

Corrections and fixture tips

If we've published something wrong, tell us and, where possible, point to the source that shows it. Association notices and league postings work best. We check corrections against the administering body before editing, and substantive changes are noted on the article rather than made silently. This applies to fixture dates, league descriptions and historical background alike.

Amateur calendars move constantly, and we depend on readers to catch changes early. If a match has been rescheduled or a venue has shifted, send the detail. Two independent confirmations, or one from an official source, is what we need before updating a published schedule. If you're the one who moved the fixture, say so and we'll go straight to the association.

That standard applies to everything we publish about regional sports leagues, from division tables to season summaries. A tip that arrives with a source is faster to act on than one that arrives as a question, and a correction we can verify is always worth the message.

Before you send

  • Name the competition, the date and the venue as they appear in the original posting.

  • Say where you read it, so we can compare against the same notice.

  • If a match is imminent, put that in the subject line so it doesn't wait in the queue.

Outside our remit

What we can't help with

We don't handle registrations, league entries, venue bookings or disputes between clubs and associations. Those go to the relevant league or county body, which is the only party that can actually resolve them. We also don't publish commercial messages, sponsorship requests or anything promoting a paid event. Messages of that kind are discarded.

League entries and disputes

Route to your league or county association, which keeps the entry records and hears appeals.

Venue and court bookings

Handled by the facility or the municipal sports office that runs the hall, not by us.

Promotions and paid events

We cover amateur and school basketball only; promotional material doesn't go up on the site.

Player and club complaints

Send those to the body that ran the competition — we report on the outcome, we don't rule on it.

After you send

Response times and what happens next

The desk is run alongside other work, so replies take a few days in normal periods and longer during a busy fixture month. If your message is time-sensitive because a match is imminent, say so in the subject line. We prioritise fixture corrections over everything else, since a wrong date is the error most likely to cost a reader a trip.

Within a few days

A short reply if we need more detail. Fixture corrections jump the queue over story suggestions.

When we act

You'll land on a confirmation page after sending, and we'll come back to you if a correction is published or held for a second check.

If we publish it

A correction is noted on the article, and we won't name you unless you've asked us to. Most tips are handled quietly.

Privacy of your message

We keep messages only as long as needed to handle the tip or correction, and we don't publish contact details without asking first. If you send something from a club or association address, we'll treat you as a representative of that body unless you say otherwise. Full details are in the privacy policy.

Anything you send about amateur sports updates, schedules or local sports history stays with the desk until the item is resolved, and we delete notes we can't verify rather than holding them indefinitely.

Write to the desk

Send a tip, correction or story idea

Tell us what changed, what we got wrong, or what's worth covering. The more precise the detail, the faster we can check it against the league or association that keeps the record.
